BIO:

USA Today bestselling and award-winning author Mia Sosa writes funny, flirty, and moderately steamy romance novels that celebrate our multicultural world. Mia’s books have received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, Library Journal, Booklist, and BookPage, and regularly appear on best-of-the-year lists. She is the recipient of a Ripped Bodice Award for Excellence in Romantic Fiction, won first place in the romance category of the International Latino Book Awards, and was a nominee for a Goodreads Choice Award in romance. When Mia’s not writing, she’s spending entirely too much time bingeing scripted and “reality” television. Born and raised in New York City, Mia is finally ready to call Maryland her home; she lives there with her college sweetheart, their two book-obsessed daughters, a gentle Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and one adorable rescue cat that rules them all. Mia is represented by Sarah Younger of Nancy Yost Literary Agency.

MSWL:

I’m interested in romantic comedies, contemporary romances, and book club fiction (HEA or HFN required). I’d love to see stories that are set in diverse worlds, that highlight the author’s culture, and/or that feature families (biological or chosen) and strong friendships. If your manuscript can make me laugh OR cry, send it my way, but if it can make me laugh AND cry, send it yesterday. I have a strong preference for tropetastic stories (secret babies not included), dual POV, and banter. No dark romances or romances in which a main character’s present or past trauma is a central theme. Please include content warnings if appropriate.

MENTORING STYLE

My ideal mentor/mentee relationship would be founded on mutual respect and a shared desire to strengthen my mentee's pages. I’d like you to feel comfortable asking questions and challenging my suggestions. Mentoring isn’t a one-size-fits-all endeavor, so I’d prefer to meet with you first, then develop a plan for sharing feedback in a way that’s most helpful to you and your writing process. I’m happy to make myself available for phone calls, virtual meetings, and brainstorming sessions. I’m also open to serving as a resource for issues relating to writing, choosing an agent, and publishing.

APPLICATIONS FROM CONNECTIONS

I don't have a preference regarding who may submit to me, even if we have connected in the past.
